Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society owes its origin to Pope Gregory X in the year 1274, which commanded the newly founded Dominican Order to inculcate greater devotion to the holy names of God and Jesus Christ.

Today, members of St. Clement of Rome Holy Name Society celebrate Mass together the second Sunday of each month at the 8 a.m. service. The Holy Name Pledge is recited prior to commencement of the celebration. At the conclusion of Mass the recessional Hymn "Holy God We Praise Thy Name" is sung by the congregation.

Customarily members gather together after Mass for a brief meeting at the Parish Center where coffee and donuts are served in the spirit of community. Both men and women of the St. Clement Parish are invited to join the society.

Objectives of the Holy Name Society
     1. To honor the names of God and of Jesus Christ by the example of a sensible religious life.
     2. To spread and increase love for the sacred name of Jesus Christ.
     3. To suppress blasphemy, profane and indecent language.
     4. To impart to Christians courage in the profession of their faith.

Duties of Members
     1. To abstain from every form of profane and unbecoming speech.
     2. To safeguard the proper observance of Sundays and Holidays of obligation.
     3. To receive Holy Communion with the members of the Society on the second Sunday of each month.

The Holy Name Society of St. Clement of Rome Parish extends an open invitation for you to join us. Further information is available by contacting Vince Petreikis at (504) 885-2867.
